A complete brand identity for a premium skincare brand entering a saturated market.

Cove is a premium skincare brand founded by a dermatologist who believed the beauty industry had overcomplicated a simple thing — effective skincare doesn't need seventeen ingredients, a celebrity endorsement, or packaging that looks like it belongs in a nightclub. It needs to work, and it needs to look like it works. The brief was to build a brand identity that communicated clinical efficacy and premium quality without the coldness of medical branding or the noise of beauty branding. A third way — precise, warm, and quietly confident.

Finding the space between clinical and beautiful.

The premium skincare market has two dominant visual languages — the clinical (white, sans-serif, almost pharmaceutical) and the luxurious (gold, serif, maximalist). Both were wrong for Cove. Clinical would have undermined the brand's warmth. Luxurious would have contradicted its commitment to simplicity and efficacy. The challenge was building a visual identity that lived in the space between them — credible enough for a dermatologist, beautiful enough for a bathroom shelf.

Restraint as a brand statement.

The identity uses a single warm off-white as its primary surface — not medical white, not cream, something in between. The typography is a refined grotesque used at two weights only — the contrast between heavy and light doing the work that most beauty brands do with color and decoration. The logo is a wordmark in the lightest possible weight — almost fragile — which creates a tension with the confident, heavy headlines used in communication. The overall effect is a brand that whispers its confidence rather than announcing it.

"Every other agency showed us moodboards full of marble and gold. He showed us what restraint could look like — and it was exactly right. Our customers tell us the packaging is the reason they picked us up for the first time."
